Steve Davis says he want his players to continue to play on the front foot.
minute of the game.ndSteve Davis says his players and staff all went through the DVD analysis of the Swindon Town encounter yesterday and the Alex boss says they will continue to be positive and play on the front foot. The Railwaymen saw a two-goal half-time lead slip away in the second half at the County Ground with our former loanee striker Nicky Ajose sealing a dramatic comeback in the 92
It was cruel on the Alex, who had excelled in the final third of the pitch in the first half to form that 3-1 lead thanks to two goals from Brad Inman and a superb solo effort from Ryan Colclough.
The Alex boss was disappointed with the mistakes we made throughout the game and says that Swindon capitalised more on them in a topsy-turvy second half.
He told the club’s official web-site: “We all went through the analysis together. When you do go through it again you can see that we made just as many mistakes in the first half as we did in the second half. The difference was Swindon were able to capitalise on them much more in the second half.
“We got punished and although they made just as many mistakes as us in their defending we couldn’t capitalise on them as well as we did in the first half. It was an open game and it could have gone either way. We knew there would be chances at both ends and they have managed to score one more goal than us.
“We were brave in our approach and we will continue to want to play on the front foot. We could have changed it at half-time and gone to 4-5-1 and sat back but then gone out and lost 4-3 then people would have been criticising us for sitting back and being negative.
“We don’t believe in sitting back and not having a go and we will continue to be like that. It is wrong to sit back and invite pressure and we don’t want to be doing that and end up losing 2-0, 3-0.”
