Boss: "We Need Real Consistency"

15 January 2016

Steve Davis says his players have to reach high levels of performance if we are to escape the drop into League Two.

Steve Davis is seeking real consistency from his players during the second half of the season. The Alex boss knows that Crewe Alexandra have to start picking up points on a regular basis in the remaining four months of the season to see us emulate our great escapes of the last two seasons.

Crewe travel to Swindon Town this weekend aiming to bounce back from a disappointing 5-0 home defeat by Coventry City last time out and Davis is confident of a good response from his players.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Every manager strives for that real consistency from his players. You need most of your players to be playing at their potential to get results in this league and that is why anyone can beat anyone on their day.

“We need more of them getting to their top level in the second half of the season and that is what we will be looking for. It is difficult with young players because you never know quite what to expect from them but we usually improve in the second half of the season and that is what we will be aiming to do again.

“It is important that we try to reach those high levels of consistency because if we can then that gives us a chance. We are all fighting to stay in the league. We have worked hard to be here and stay here and if we can put on a good performance and get a result after what happened against Coventry then that will give us a massive boost.”
