Steve on Swindon Town clash as Crewe look to get back on track.

Steve Davis expects a proper football match against Swindon Town this weekend. The Robins have interim manager Luke Williams in charge following the sad resignation of Martin Ling for personal reasons - but the Crewe boss says their philosophy of playing stylish football will continue.

Ahead of our trip to Wiltshire, the Crewe Alexandra boss told the club’s official web-site: “Swindon have their own model and philosophy and they won’t change the way they want to play regardless of who is in charge.

“They like to supplement their own players with loan players but they are always a skilful type of player. They like to play a particular way and they are attractive to watch.

“It doesn’t matter which shape they play they will look to play the same way. It is an open, expansive style.

“They are patient and build their game around possession football. They try and win it back as soon as they can and control the tempo of the game. They have some very good players and you have to be organised to contain them.

“You have to soak up their pressure a bit and make it difficult for them to play through you but you have also got to be dangerous yourself and go on the front foot when you can. It should be a good game and one we are looking forward to.

“We haven’t had a game for two weeks and we haven’t done well there recently, so the challenge is there for us.”
