Boss Hopeful On Signing Zouma On Short-Term Deal

14 January 2016

Alex boss says he is interested in adding experienced left-back to his squad.

Steve Davis would like to make left full-back Zouma Bakayogo his first signing of the January transfer window. The Alex boss is interested in adding the former Leicester and Tranmere defender to his squad options after the experienced 29-year-old successfully battled back from injury.

Bakayogo, who has not played a competitive match since appearing on loan for his previous club Yeovil Town back in January 2014 has worked hard from the summer to overcome a cruciate ligament injury and prove his fitness to Crewe Alexandra. He appeared in pre-season for us and has proved his fitness levels in a number of Development squad matches.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I have spoken to Zouma to see if we can do something this month. He has been with us since the summer and he has worked hard to get back after a serious injury.

“I have always liked him as a player and he could help us because we need another full-back. He is beginning to get back to an impressive level of performance and hopefully we can do something with him.

“We will continue to talk to him and his agent but he knows we would like to offer him something and see how he does for the rest of the season. We will have to wait and see. “
