Boss Challenges Others To Get Goals

8 January 2016

With King and Lowe going back, Steve is looking to his own to contribute goals.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that the recalls of Adam King and Ryan Lowe will open the doors for others in the Alex squad but they will have to start contributing in the goals stakes.

The on-loan King was the club’s second leading scorer with five goals from midfield and Lowe scored twice during his loan spell from Bury. The club are still in discussions with the Shakers to see if a loan deal for Lowe can be extended until the end of the season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have a business model at Crewe and when opportunities do arise for others it is important they take them.

“Despite King going back to Swansea we do have enough cover in midfield. We are not threadbare in terms of numbers but it is important that someone steps up and replaces his goals. He scored five goals from midfield and was always a threat when he got into the opposition box.

“We have not been getting enough goals and it will be up to the others to fill their boots more. We need them to contribute in the final third and get into dangerous positions.

“The challenge is there and we will give them their chance to show that they can do that.”
