Ajayi Possesses The Right Character

8 January 2016

Boss pleased that on-loan Cardiff defender was ready to stay and fight for the cause.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he is delighted to have secured the services of Semi Ajayi until 26th February because the Cardiff City defender possesses the right character in our battle to remain in League One.

Ajayi knows he is on loan to gain playing experience and act as cover to our injured defensive pairing of Harry Davis and George Ray, but the former Charlton and Arsenal trainee is certainly up for the fight.

Davis was delighted with Ajayi’s positive response when they held talks earlier in the week about extending his loan agreement with us.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I was pleased to get Semi sign up quickly because there were a few clubs who had also expressed an interest in taking him on loan.

“He has done well for us and we feel there is more to come from him. There is still room for improvement and that comes from playing in the games and the experience he is being exposed to.

“He was happy to stay and that was important. He has settled in quickly, he is a good lad and he wanted to stay and help.

“I had a chat with him and said it is going to be a fight. We are fighting a relegation battle and it is going to be tough, but he said he wanted to stay and fight. That is important because we will need characters like him. I know he has the character to stand up to that and will give it his all.

“It has been good to have kept him and that has given us a boost.”
