Alex Lose Five-Goal Thriller In Huddersfield

Kenny Lunt’s Under 18 side ended up on the wrong end of a 3-2 thriller in Yorkshire despite a late fight-back.

The Terriers flew quickest out the traps and took the lead on 15 minutes, firing in a rebound effort after Alex keeper Kieran Harrison had parried a shot.

Crewe equalised on 27 minutes with a fantastic goal. Oli Finney spotted the run of Owen Dale from his own half and pinged a delightful cross-field ball into the path of the striker who did well to control and fire into the top corner.

Ten minutes later and The Alex were ahead, Tom Lowery coming onto a loose ball 16-yards out and firing in a low effort into the net.

Into the second half and Huddersfield fought back. They made it 2-2 with a scrappy goal from a corner, and re-gained the lead on 70 minutes with an opportunist steal of possession and quick move.

Harrison made fine saves to stop the hosts stretching their lead, and Crewe twice came close to levelling late on through Lowery and Dale, but it wasn’t to be.

Crewe: Harrison, Woodcock, Dowsett, Wilkinson, Morgan, Finney, Lowery, Pickering, Dale, Whalley, Higham#
