Boss pleased to add sought after Southampton striker to his attacking options.
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he was delighted to get the loan signing of Ryan Seager over the line on Friday because he believes we could have been involved in a deadline scrap for the Southampton forward.
Seager has signed on a youth loan for one month and he made his debut as a second half substitute against Millwall at the weekend.
Seager, 19, has been a prolific goalscorer for Southampton’s Development Squad and he rejected other offers from League One clubs to sign on loan for Crewe.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Deadline day was quiet for us and I was just glad that we didn’t lose anyone else. I was pleased to get Ryan over the line on Friday. We managed to get that one done fairly quickly and I was pleased to get that finalised because there were other clubs after him.
“I didn’t want to go into the final day, scrapping it out with other clubs in our division because he did have other options but to be fair to Ryan he wanted to come here. He knows about the club’s reputation and he knows he will get a good opportunity here. “
