Steve: "Resolve Is Paying Off"

10 February 2016

Boss says his players have to continue their trainingn ground application into games.

Steve Davis says his Crewe Alexandra side have to continue to transfer what they are doing in training out onto the pitch. The Railwaymen extended their unbeaten run to four games with a well deserved 2-0 win over Rochdale on Saturday and the Alex boss believes that the hard work and resolve is beginning to pay off.

Ahead of this weekend’s home game with Walsall, Steve told crewealex.net: “The players have been working hard and I cannot fault their efforts throughout the season. They know that they have to work even harder to make sure we continue to pick up points.

“I cannot fault their application on the training pitch and the key to it is that they continue to transfer that into the games. They have being doing that and I think the performances have merited our recent points return.

“We are just focussing on ourselves and not have to rely on other results. That is always the best policy and we try to avoid that if we can by doing our own jobs first. We needed results to go our way on the final day of last season and they did but we may have earned that right by the results we managed to get in the run-in.

“We want to continue on our unbeaten run but we know we will have to be on top of our game if we are going to beat a side like Walsall. If we play to our potential and match that with hard work then there is no reason why we cannot get a result. “
