Steve Davis gives us his post-match reaction
place.nd win of the season against Rochdale. First half goals from Marcus Haber and Brad Inman sealed the three points and that has seen us leapfrog Oldham Athletic into 22thSteve Davis praised his Crewe Alexandra side as they recorded a 6
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It was a great three points for us and we deserved it. The performance was very good and it merited the result. That hasn’t happened all the time this season, so it’s nice to win at home.
“I have been onto the players all week that we have not done well enough at home this season. I’ve told them we need to start winning at home and if we can do that and win the majority of them then we have a chance of doing it. It is there for them.
“When they play like that it is hard to think why we have only won three home games this season. You have to wonder why.
“It wasn’t ideal conditions for a great game of football but we adapted well and limited the number of mistakes. We played the conditions well and tried to get in behind them and that is how it panned out.
“It was nice to score from a set-play. All we have told the players is for them to go where they like but try to get on the end of the ball. Ben Nugent made a run to the near post and I think it put a couple of their players off and Marcus has pulled off at the far post to get his goal. I was delighted with that because we don’t score many from corners.
“Brad’s goal was fantastic. We want him to pick up those positions between the full-back and centre half and to burst through with his pace. When he sets off like that there is no stopping him. He came through the tussle with the centre-half well to get clear and when he does get through you expect him to score. Brad showed his great composure with his finish and that is five in the last five games for him. He is playing really well for us.
He added: “Brad has terrific pace and he is blistering over the first 10 yards and when he is in that mood then he is very hard to stop. We just need him to continue to do that.”
