Steve: "Everyone Is Gutted For Ryan"

17 February 2016

Steve Davis on Seager's mixed emotions at Spotland.

Steve Davis says he will re-assess his forward options once he knows the full extent of Ryan Seager’s knee injury. The on-loan Southampton youngster unfortunately suffered a knee injury just minutes after he scored his first senior goal to draw us level at Spotland.

The 20-year-old will undergo a scan later today to assess the full extent of the damage.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official web-site: “It was an up and down night for Ryan. We were pleased for him to see him score his first professional goal. It was a great move down the right hand side and he pulled off his man to finish Brad Inman’s cut back. That is what he does, he is a good finisher.

“We were on top in the game at that stage. They had done terrifically well to get level and the momentum was with us until Ryan suffered his injury. We are all gutted for him.

“We were flying in the game and losing Ryan and the break that came with that just halted our momentum. We just all felt sorry for Ryan because he is a good lad.

“That about sums up our luck with injuries this season and over the last couple of seasons. Just when it looks as though we have got one in who could get some goals, we lose him.

The boss added: “I will have to see the full extent of Ryan’s injury because I can comment on it but if we have lost him then we will have to look at it this week because we are down to the bare bones, especially in the forward positions.”
