Ray & Cooper Will Be Assessed This Week

23 February 2016

George Ray and George Cooper pressing for inclusion agianst Barnsley after getting game time for U-21s.

The returning George Ray and George Cooper will be assessed this week before they will come under serious consideration for our home meeting with Barnsley on Saturday. The two George’s each played 45 minutes in yesterday’s Development Squad encounter against Sheffield Wednesday and their return to action will be a huge boost to the Alex as we enter the final few months of the season.

It Ray’s first game time since he suffered a broken ankle away at Colchester back in November.

Cooper has only missed the club’s last two games after struggling with a thigh injury in recent weeks.

Steve Davis will be forced into at least one change for the weekend visit of Barnsley because the on-loan centre-half Semi Ajayi has returned to Cardiff City after his 93 days loan agreement expired.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We will have to see how they both are this week before we consider them for the squad this weekend. They came through okay and it was good for them to get some game time under their belts, especially George Ray, who has been out for some considerable time.

“They will train today and tomorrow before they are off on Thursday. We will have to see if they are fit enough to be include against Barnsley, either starting or on the bench. “
