Fox: "Getting That Win Has Lifted Everyone"

11 February 2016

Stand-in captain says everyone is looking forward to testing ourselves against Walsall this weekend.

Crewe Alexandra’s stand-in captain David Fox says that our recent unbeaten run has improved the atmosphere around the club.

Fox, who has had the captain’s armband for much of the season due to Harry Davis’ knee injury, has told Crewe Alex Player HD that there are enough characters and talented players inside the dressing room to give us a chance of pulling off a miraculous escape.

A 2-0 win over Rochdale last weekend was Crewe’s first since late November and followed on from three hard working draws against Bury, Wigan and Millwall.

Ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Walsall, Fox told us: “Everything feels a lot better around the place, the results bring that into things and we’re on a decent little run at the minute.

“We need to continue it because it’s nice to get away from the defeats, but we also needed to turn the draws into wins and we did that last Saturday. It makes it a lot better place, a happier place.

“With the young group we have, if we could’ve got a good start to the season, then that would’ve built up some confidence and I think we’d have seen a real different season.

“When you’re down there and confidence is low, it’s very difficult and it’s about taking those small steps from where we were in the league to build up that confidence, go on those runs, and that’s what we’re on at the minute.”
