Davis Wary Of Rochdale's Attacking Threat

5 February 2016

Boss says there is a lot more to Dale than Vincenti and Henderson.

Crewe boss Steve David says he is wary of the threat presented by the experienced Rochdale duo of Peter Vincenti and Ian Henderson but he admits there is a lot more to their make-up than just those two danger men.

Crewe host Keith Hill’s Rochdale side and although their leading scorers tend to make most of the headlines, Steve is a keen admirer of our visitors incredible work ethic. Rochdale recorded three fairly comfortable wins over us last season, including a 5-2 victory at the Alexandra Stadium, and Davis hailed them as one of the strongest sides we faced during the campaign.

Ahead of our weekend fixture, Steve told crewealex.net: “Rochdale play at a high intensity and you have to try and match that and when you get the ball try and exploit the gaps. It is always a tough game against a Keith Hill side and I’m sure it will be the same this weekend.

“We are aware of their threats and will stick to our game plan to try and contain them but also try to take the game to them. We want to force the issue as much as we can.

“We know the threat posed by the height and heading ability of Vincenti and the pace and runs of Henderson. They are two good players, but they have good players all over the pitch.

He added: “Rochdale had one or two blips but they responded well and the confidence is back I’m sure. It is the same with us and it should be a good game. “
