George Cooper feels that his confidence is returning after MOM display at Millwall.
Alex youngster George Cooper is aiming to make 2016 a much better year. The talented teenager from Warrington is aiming to step out of the shadow of Ryan Colclough following his recent move to Wigan Athletic and his recent good form saw him claim the Alex man-of-the-match award at Millwall on Saturday.
Cooper won the penalty that was converted by Brad Inman and he went on to enjoy one of his most productive afternoons in a Crewe shirt in the 1-1 draw. The 18-year-old believes that signing his new contract and having the opportunity to reclaim his starting position has restored some lost confidence.
Ahead of this weekend’s home game with Rochdale, Coops told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “I’m feeling miles better in myself now. I felt like I could run at players at Millwall and take people on, get in behind the defence – which last I haven’t been doing.
“Last few games I’ve done ok, the confidence is coming back and hopefully I can start scoring a few goals now too.
“I feel like I’m getting back to my best now. I’m feeling sharp again now and I just can’t wait to get going again now for every game.
“I want to keep my place now for the rest of the season. I want to help the lads get out the relegation battle and do my bit to help the club.
“As attackers we need to have that cutting edge now to get us the goals and we’re all working hard to make sure we can win matches.”
“It was a great performance from the lads against Millwall. We all battled well. What it proves is that we can compete with everyone. Last three games we’ve had three draws and we need to keep that run going now and see where it takes us.
George added: “We’ve defended well as a group recently, so we just need to add that cutting edge now and turn draws into wins.”
