Collins Praises Players For Recent Turn Around

17 February 2016

Crewe's assistant manager says players have done superbly well at sticking at the task.

The club’s assistant manager James Collins believes that our recent run of remaining unbeaten has restored some confidence - but he still wants to see us convert some of our recent draws into wins.

Crewe Alexandra have won one and drawn five to go on an unbeaten run of six games and Collins just wants us to have that little bit of good fortune to turn those single points into three.

The Alex head to fellow strugglers Chesterfield this weekend hoping to claw Danny Wilson’s side back into the relegation dogfight.

James exclusively told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “When you are on a run of not getting beaten it does breed confidence and it is always nice to come into the training ground because there are smiles on people’s faces. From the top to the bottom, no-one at this club ever panics and it puts us in good stead for when the pressure really comes on.

“The players deserve the credit because they have stuck at it and continued to do what we have asked of them. I don’t think they were playing too much differently when we were losing games. I just think have been really unfortunate at times and not had that bit of luck. Hopefully that change of luck is coming in our direction.

“They have kept going and stopped that losing streak. Now we have to try and convert some of those draws into wins.

He added: “Of course, we do look at the table and see who is playing who, but the most important thing is to make sure we keep getting our own points. We have to go into every game and look to take a point or better still three points from it. If we can do that then we have every chance of clawing out of it.”
