Boss Praise For Hard Working Front Two

8 February 2016

Steve Davis says new partnership showed promise in 2-0 win over Rochdale.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis praised the work ethic of his new striking partnership as they helped us record our first League win since late November with a deserved 2-0 win over Rochdale. The hard working Marcus Haber got himself on the score-sheet from a George Cooper corner and new loan signing Ryan Seager received a standing ovation for his efforts when he was replaced late on by Joe Howell.

The Haber and Seager partnership was ably backed up by the excellent Brad Inman and youngster George Cooper as Crewe went on the front foot to get that first home win of 2016.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Both Marcus and Ryan worked hard and it was important they did because of the way we had to play. We had to adapt to the conditions on the day and I thought we did that well.

“They had to work hard and they made a lot of runs in behind and ran the channels well. They put a shift in and chased a lot of lost causes because we thought they could force errors in the conditions.

“They worked tirelessly for us and at times they combined really well as well as a partnership, so that is promising.

“I wanted the four attacking players and that is no reflection on Zoumana (Bakayogo) who I left out because he played well for us at Millwall the week before. “
