Zoumana Bakayogo could return for the Alex this weekend as boss looks to re-unite back five.
Steve Davis is hoping he can welcome back his experienced full-back Zoumana Bakayogo from injury to restore his most settled back five. The former Leicester City man has an outside chance of being fit for the visit of Crawley this weekend and Davis says his return will be a welcome boost.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We will see if Zoumana can improve enough to be considered. He is a fit guy anyway and athletic, so he has a chance. We will make a judgement on that after tomorrow’s final session. Ideally we would like him to have another week but his fitness levels give him a chance.
“He has been solid for us this season and up to recently it has been a settled back five, if you include Ben (Garratt) in goal as well. We have defended better with those five and they had played in the majority of the games until Zooms and then Turts got injured.
“The relationship between them had been good. They knock each other and they had done a lot of work on things when we drilled them together. Putting one in for an injured player should not have made that much difference but on this occasion it has.”
