Sub Displays Could Influence Thinking

23 December 2016

Boss says now maybe the perfect time to try something different.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that the contribution of his substitutes away at Cambridge last weekend has given him food for thought.

Midfielder Billy Bingham, winger Charlie Kirk and robust forward Dan Udoh certainly made an impact as the Railwaymen chased a 2-0 deficit at the Abbey Stadium. With Crewe looking more of a threat, James Jones pulled one goal back but we just couldn’t force home another to salvage a point.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I thought the subs did well for us last week and their performances have given us something to think about. We will look into it and may do something different.

“With Lowe out it could be a good time to look at something different against Carlisle. The players who have played most of the season have looked jaded and I may freshen it up with the games we have coming up.

“I could also go with the same system and play Daniel or Callum, who is recovering well from his injury. We will look at it and assess the best way to get a result on Boxing Day.”
