Steve: "I Would Rather Be Planning For Cup-Tie"

2 December 2016

Boss still hugely disappointed not to planning for Sutton in the FA Cup this weekend.

Steve Davis has reiterated his disappointment in exiting the FA Cup as football prepares for the second round of the competition over the weekend. The Alex lost heavily to Cheltenham Town in an FA Cup replay and Davis is still disappointed not to have the chance to progress to the lucrative third round.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I would much prefer to still be in the FA Cup and planning to play Sutton United this weekend. People know how much I value the FA Cup and what it means to me, the club and the fans.

“I’ve always wanted to have a decent run in it as a manager and it just hasn’t happened. I would much rather have a game this weekend but we haven’t and we have used that time to our advantage.

“The players have had a rest and we have been able to do some work out on the training ground with them. We haven’t been able to do that recently because we have had a relentless number of games.

“We have had the two weeks to work on some things and get that rest period in.”
