Nugent Injury Not As Bad As First Feared

23 December 2016

Defender given all-clear after x-rays

Crewe Alexandra Ben Nugent has been given the all-clear by doctors after receiving x-ray & scan results.

It was first thought that Nugent had fractured a cheekbone in the U23's victory over Barnsley this week, but after a full assessment in hospital, the 23-year-old has been discharged with just minor bruising.

The big defender has returned to training today & could now be in contention to play on Boxing Day & New Years Eve.

Manager Steve Davis said: "There were reports that Ben had fractured his cheekbone after a stray arm in the match, it looked bad to start with, but after an x-ray & assessment in hospital, he's ok.

"You know what Ben's character's like, he's a tough one & has come straight back in for training today.

"There doesn't seem to be any lasting damage so he'll be in consideration for Carlisle on Monday."
