Boss expects contract talks not to resume until end of January window.
Steve Davis remains hopeful that Jon Guthrie and Ben Garratt will extend their contracts with us, but he does not expect anything to occur until the passing of the January window. Both Garratt and Guthrie are about to enter the last six months of their contract, but Crewe would receive a compensation fee for Garratt due to his age if he were to reject our offer.
Steve updated the official web-site: “There has been no movement with Jon or Ben. I don’t expect anything to happen and that will go into January at least.
“They are important to us and I would love them to extend their stay with us because we want to keep our best players. It is not easy because of the model we have where we produce players and then they move on.
“It is more difficult now with the influence of agents. They take their advice and we have to find a way of dealing with that. It is something we have been addressing for a while because the market has changed and the influence of agents has grown.”
