Ng On Steep Learning Curve

8 December 2016

Young defender says recent run in the team has only helped his development.

Young defender Perry Ng has told Crewe Alex Player that he has to use his half time substitution at Colchester as a steep learning curve in his development. The 20-year-old was replaced at the half time interval as Steve Davis decided to match Colchester’s three at the back.

The Liverpool-born Ng was disappointed with his own performance in Essex but he stresses that he has learned a great deal after appearing in the club’s last eight games in some capacity.

“It’s been really good for me, even though the results haven’t been the best. I’m happy to be out there and that the manager has showed some faith in me.Perry told crewealex.net:

“The first few games, it took a bit of time to get used to the level, because it’s a big step-up compared to Under 23’s, but I think after that I had a few good performances – it’s just a shame about the last one at Colchester.

“Getting brought off in that game at half-time, to start with it knocks your confidence, but with time and training you get your confidence back and it makes you more determined to get back into the team and impress the manager again.

“It’s a shame for Turts and Zooms to have had those injuries, I was gutted for them. At the same time though, I’ve got to take my opportunities when they come.

“The team was doing well and the defence was settled, so it was hard for me to break in – I knew my chance was going to come through someone else getting injured.”
