Striker not to be risked for Accrington Stanley clash

Ryan Lowe is unlikely to b risked for the visit of Accrington Stanley this weekend. The 38-year-old striker missed our Boxing Day draw with Carlisle after picking up a hamstring strain away at Cambridge in the previous game.

January.ndIt was hoped that the club captain and leading scorer would return for the visit of John Coleman’s side on New Years’ Eve, but he has not been able to train this week and boss Steve Davis says it is unlikely he will be risked for the home game against Accrington and the visit to Morecambe on 2

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Ryan has not been able to train with us yet so I won’t risk him. He needs to get some training under his belt and it would be a risk to include him in the squad because we wouldn’t know how his hamstring would react.

“At the moment it is unlikely that we will play him in either of the games. Maybe the rest over the Christmas games will serve his hamstring better and he will be available for the trip to Mansfield.

“He is certainly not that far off but we would like him to get to the point where he has trained with no discomfort before we consider bringing him back.”
