Fans Will Play Vital Role

28 December 2016

Boss wants supporters to help us enjoy a better year as we get set to end 2016 with home win.

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says the fans supporters will play a vital role if we are going to mount a serious challenge toward a play-off place.

On Boxing Day, The Railwaymen produced another fine performance against one of the teams tipped to be involved in the promotion push and Davis says that there is evidence that his team can compete with the better sides in the division.

Crewe were unfortunate not to have collected all three points against the Cumbrians with George Cooper’s direct free-kick cancelling out Shaun Miller’s opener. Crewe felt aggrieved that we were not awarded at least penalty when Tom Miller handed a late cross at the far post.

Davis said: “I don’t know what the chances count was but I think we had more of them on the day. It just wouldn’t go for us and we didn’t get one or two key decisions either.

“We have had some very disappointing days, hopefully now we have come out of the dip now. We have shown against the team that is second in the table that we can be as good as them on our day.

“We had a good vocal support and the atmosphere was different, the players have to get them up for every game – that’s vital to getting the results we need.

“The players were disappointed that we didn’t win the game but you could see the effort they all put in."
