Davis: "Having Experienced Players Helps"

8 December 2016

Boss says that his wasn't the only voice being raised after Colchester loss.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that there is enough experience in the dressing room to make sure that we overcome the performance at Colchester as soon as possible. Davis knows that his key senior players such as Ryan Lowe, Chris Dagnall and Danny Hollands would have expressed their own opinions amongst the squad following our hugely disappointing 4-0 defeat to the U’s.

Ahead of our home game against Crawley this weekend, the Alex boss told us: “We had a talk with them and I know the experienced players in the squad would have said their piece to the younger ones as well.

“We have enough experience in that dressing room to know that the level of performance at Colchester was not acceptable and they would have spoken between themselves and put things right.

“I am the type of manager who rolls his sleeves up and gets in amongst them as well. I did that prior to the game, at half-time and then afterwards as well. They know that it wasn’t good enough but they have had their break now and we go again against Crawley.

“Some of them needed a break, mentally and physically and they have come back better for it.”
