Boss full of praise for Daggers' hard working display on Boxing Day.
Chris Dagnall deserved a goal for his hard working contribution against Carlisle United on Boxing Day. That was the view of manager Steve Davis after his experienced striker worked his socks to occupy the Carlisle back-line in the absence of his usual strike partner Ryan Lowe.
Crewe were unfortunate not to pick up all three points with Dagnall being denied on a number of occasions by the Carlisle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie and some timely blocks from their defenders.
The Alex boss Steve Davis was full of praise for the work ethic of Dagnall in our 1-1 draw. He said: “Daggers didn’t get the goal his work ethic deserved on the day. He was always in and around it and he occupied the defenders throughout the game.
“He never stops and he just didn’t quite get his reward with a goal. He had a couple of shots blocked and credit to Carlisle because they defended well when they had to.
“Even when he is not scoring, you always get 100% from Daggers. He gives everything he has and so does Lowey (Ryan Lowe). That work rate has rubbed off on the others, especially the younger ones who see what needs to be done to be a part of a successful team.”
