Steve Davis targets morale boosting performance against Carlisle on Boxing Day.
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he wants his team to recapture their early season form over the festive period. After reaching the heights of 3rd place, the Railwaymen have slipped down the league table to 16th but Davis is ‘hopeful that confidence will return as quickly as it was lost’.
Ahead of our Boxing Day home game against high-flying Carlisle, the Alex boss said: “We made a good start to the season but have lost our way a bit over the last six weeks.
“At the end of the day, it is about getting the three points and we have not been able to do that enough recently. We have made too many mistakes and when you do that at important moments in a game then you give yourself a mountain to climb.
“We have to keep the ball better and have more authority in possession. We gave it away too much, collectively against Cambridge.
“You don’t become a bad player overnight. They are good players and it is just a question of getting out of a dip. Confidence can return as quickly as it is lost with a good performance.”
