Boss hoping his Crewe side will again rise their game against one of the promotion hopefuls.
Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager is hoping that a visit of Carlisle United on Boxing Day will inspire his side into producing another effective performance against one of the fancied sides for promotion. Crewe host Keith Curle’s in-form side and Davis is again hopeful that his side can rise to the occasion against one of the better sides in League Two.
After a fantastically consistent start to the season, Carlisle currently trail leaders Plymouth by just two points and they have lost just one league game to Newport County during the campaign.
Ahead of our Boxing Day game, Steve told crewealex.net: “Carlisle will be a good test for us and it is nice to have a home game on Boxing Day. That has not happened for a while. It is something we can look forward to.
“Hopefully, we can raise our performance again and it can provide a springboard for us. We have matched some of the better sides in this division and managed to get results against the likes of Portsmouth, Doncaster and Luton.
“It is a good game for us to have and the players will not need much motivation in front of what should be a decent crowd.
“Keith has done a great job and they have an outstanding record this season. They have been able to sustain it as well, which is never easy.
“We do have a tendency to raise our game against teams that are doing well and that is what we will need to do again.”
