'Ball In Our Court With Kiwomya'

14 December 2016

Boss says no reason why on-loan Chelsea winger cannot remain with us.

Steve Davis says that the ‘ball is in our court’ over our on-loan wide man Alex Kiwomya. The Chelsea youngster has enjoyed a fantastic first half of the season, scoring seven league goals for the club and his early form saw him nominated for the August Player of the Month award.

Although he suffered a shoulder injury away at Grimsby in September, he returned to action to score an equaliser away at Notts County a month later.

Steve Davis has held a conversation with Kiwomya’s parent club and says that any loan extension is now down to us.

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “I’ve spoken to Chelsea and they say it is down to us. We have to go back to them with something and perhaps do a little more in terms of the deal financially.

“At the moment we aren't paying a huge amount. We are paying what we can afford and maybe we will have to do a little bit more on that. The ball is in our court though and if we can do it then there is no reason why Alex can’t stay with us.”
