Whitby Morrison Partnership Continues

9 August 2016

Crewe delighted to renew Whitby Morrison Stand Sponsorship

Crewe Alexandra is delighted to announce the renewal of our partnership with local business Whitby Morrison.

The agreement will see the away end continue as the Ice Cream Van Stand – now famous within football circles – as well as several additional initiatives from pitch side hoarding to supporting the children’s Christmas party and charity events by providing an ice cream van.

Whitby Morrison were established in 1962 by Bryan Whitby and are now a third-generation family business. Sadly, Brian passed away recently but his wonderful legacy lives on in the local community and beyond.

Based on the nearby Crewe Gates Estate, they manufacture in excess of 150 Ice Cream Vans annually, exporting them all over the world – including locations as diverse as Libya, Malaysia and Kyrgysztan.

Ed Whitby said: “We are delighted to continue the friendship and relationship between Whitby Morrison and Crewe Alexandra which goes back almost 25 years. We all have ups and downs and when faced with a challenge it’s more important than ever to help each other and pull together – and that’s what we are here to help with. Here’s to a prosperous 2016/2017 season!’

Crewe Chairman John Bowler said: “In the wake of relegation, we have been overwhelmed by the loyalty and support shown by our supporters and our local partners. Whitby Morrison have been friends of the Football Club for many, many years and we cannot thank them enough for their continued support of the club and all they do for us and the local community.

“Their apprenticeship scheme provides a valuable platform for young people to start their career and like ourselves they have a tremendously loyal and hardworking work force. It is great to have them with us.”
