U23: Crewe 3-0 Barnsley

31 August 2016

Alex Morris' side run riot in the sunshine at Gresty Road

Crewe Alexandra Under 23's produced a commanding performance in the Bank Holiday sunshine at Gresty Road to romp home 3-0 victors over Barnsley.

Alex Morris' side commanded the proceedings from start to finish, with star man Tom Lowery, Owen Dale and Harry Pickering getting on the score-sheet.

On the day, Lowery could've had a hat-trick, but his all action performance did result in the opener on 25 minutes, rounding the Tykes goalkeeper and slotting home following a team move.

Ten minutes later and a 12-pass team move that wouldn't look out of place at The Nou Camp had Crewe two ahead. It was zipped about with gusto before Callum Bullock crossed for Owen Dale to volley home.

Crewe continued the dominance into the second half and a trialist should've made it 3-0, putting a point blank header straight at the Barnsley keeper.

But on 65 minutes, it was three with Pickering stooping to delightfully glance a 12-yard header into the corner from Dan Udoh's dinked cross.

The Alex saw the game out in typical possession-based-style to record the three points and leave Manager Alex Morris a happy man.

Crewe: Richards, Bullock, Ng, Trialist, Wilkinson, Lowery, Finney, Lundstram, Dale, Pickering, Udoh (Reilly, 70)
