Our former Academy graduate Billy Waters could be facing Crewe Alexandra for the first time since his release back in the summer of 2015 – but his former boss Steve Davis says it is good to see the 21-year-old doing so well at Cheltenham Town.

Waters, who progressed through the Youth ranks at Crewe Alexandra made 30 appearances for the Railwaymen, scoring three times before his contract was not renewed at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is good for Billy and we are always pleased to see those players that leave go and do well for themselves.

“We always keep an eye on how our players are doing, especially the young ones and it is the same with Billy, or AJ or Byron. We look out of all of them. We still if they are playing or got themselves a goal.

He added: “We keep a keen eye on how they are doing and I’m sure it is one game Billy was really looking forward to.”
