The Crewe boss has a similar squad to choose from after the midweek draw with Hartlepool and is looking forward to a first ever trip to Rodney Parade.

He said: "We're all ok from the other night, we've come out pretty much unscathed so that's good.

"We always consider the opposition even though I've always stressed through pre-season and up to now that what we do is the most important and most of our work today will be around us improving. We'll look at what Newport will do but for us it's always about how we'll do things better.

"They [Newport] have got some battlers. They've also got a bit of quality with a bit of athleticism in the team and they're well organised, so it will be a tough game."
