Steve Davis says he will try and be more decisive with his subs this season.
Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says he will continue to be decisive as he can be when it comes to making substitutions. The Alex boss made two key changes on the hour mark at Stevenage, replacing his two wingers George Cooper and Charlie Kirk with Alex Kiwomya and Callum Ainley and they had the desired impact. The on-loan Chelsea winger Kiwomya created the opening goal of the game for Ryan Lowe and then scored a splendid solo goal to seal the deserved three points.
Following the 2-1 win, Steve told us: “I thought the two wide men were fine but I just felt that the fresh legs may give us something different and it worked. I not going to be messing about as much with the substitutions this season. In the past I would leave the players on thinking they would change it in the 90 minutes but they haven’t so I will aim to be more decisive.
“If I think some fresh legs will make a difference then I will change it sooner. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. You never know. Sometimes you will put a sub on and they don’t have the impact you want.
