Boss Talks Scheduling With Nine Games In Four Weeks

Crewe Alexandra Manager Steve Davis insists that he must continue to find the balance between his squad to manage the gruelling schedule in the opening stages of the season.

A run of nine games in four weeks marks the opening month of the campaign for The Alex, and whilst pleased with the start, the boss is mindful of the bigger test to come having to manage his squad through the period.

He said: "It's been a tough three games in seven days for us and it's only going to get harder with a game tomorrow (Tuesday), Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday etc.

"I think we've got eight games in three and a half weeks, so that's a real test for us - so i think the bigger tests are to come.

"The demands of the early season are real, everything is crammed into these early parts and it is bound to be a strain on any squad.

"Resting players, putting players in, keeping others fresh is important to all managers. We want to keep a winning team of course, but it's a big ask for them to play every game."
