Youthful Alex side run riot in Leicestershire

Kirby Muxloe 0-5 Crewe Alexandra XI

Crewe XI:
Richards, Woodcock (Lundstram, 60), Wilkinson, Ng, Pickering, Finney, Lowery, Kiwomya (Walley, 72), Ainley (Dale, 72), Saunders, Udoh

A Crewe Alexandra XI ran out comfortable 5-0 winners in the Leicestershire village of Kirby Muxloe in what was the final pre-season outing before the big kick-off at Stevenage.

Alex Morris managed the side with Callum Ainley & Alex Kiwomya the stand-out names in the line-up which had more than a youthful edge to it.

In truth, Crewe could've won by an even greater margin if it wasn't for some heroic blocks on the line & a touch of wayward finishing.

Crewe took the lead on 22 minutes, some Kiwomya trickery paving the way for Ainley to feed Udoh in the box who swivelled & fired in low into the corner.

Just three minutes later and man of the match Ainley got the first of his brace, jinking & jiving past three players into the box & firing a left-footer across the keeper into the bottom corner.

On the stroke of half-time the lead was stretched to three with a world class contribution from centre-half Perry Ng. He one-two'd his way up the pitch with various team mates before getting in one-on-one on the angle & dinking a delightful chip over the keeper.

Crewe continued the pressure in the second period and Ainley completed his double on 55 minutes, curling a 20-yard free-kick plum into the bottom corner before subsitute Owen Dale completed the scoring eight minutes from time with a rifled effort into the far corner after a run and lay-off from Walley.

Saunders came close a number of times with Udoh & Finney also missing chances to improve the score-line, but overall it proved a good final fitness test for the troops with no injuries sustained.
