Davis: "Owen Will Turn Blackburn Around"

23 August 2016

Boss says Crewe have to be wary of Blackburn's slow start to the season.

Steve Davis is looking forward to seeing his Crewe Alexandra side take on Championship side Blackburn Rovers this evening. The Railwaymen travel to Ewood Park on the back of a mini-run of five games unbeaten in all competitions and Davis is hoping that his side can take the confidence into tonight’s EFL Cup Round Two.

Ahead of tonight’s fixture, Steve told crewealex.net: “I think it’s a good draw for us. Blackburn are still a big club and it is a good chance for us to play a Championship club and have that test.

“It should be a good game and we are looking forward to it because it will be a good pitch and hopefully a decent crowd. We have come into the game on a little unbeaten run and that is good mentally for us.

“Blackburn have made a slow start to the season but it is still very early. We are only four games in and I’m sure that Owen (Coyle) will turn it around soon enough. They played a lot better in the second half against Burton and probably shaded it. They were a bit unlucky they didn’t go on to win the game.

“I’m sure Owen would have seen some encouraging signs from Saturday and they will looking to progress into the next round as much as we are.”
