Davis Frustrated With Point In Impressive Performance

16 August 2016

Manager pleased with side despite being pegged back

Boss Steve Davis cut a frustrated figure at full-time after his Crewe side produced a fantastic attacking performance, but were forced to share the points with Hartlepool in a 3-3 draw.

Crewe registered over 20 shots in the game with Chris Dagnall, Alex Kiwomya & George Cooper putting the Alex in control - but two in two minutes in the final quarter of the game brought the Pools back level and earned them a point.

Davis said: "You always want to come out of those exciting games with the result in your favour. It was a great end-to-end game, particularly with us attacking them.

"At 3-1 I thought that should've been it. I thought we were 3-1 better than them I have to say. We created a hell of a lot of chances, got done out of the blue with the first one, just a bit of magic with him cutting inside - there wasn't a lot we could do about it.

"The second one was really unfortunate, Lowey's tried to make some ground up and its ricocheted to the lad straight behind us who's reacted quicker and he's slotted it away. Then the third one was from a harsh free-kick.

"I can't ask for any more from them though. I've probably been a bit harsh with them in there because of the manner of the draw, but in the end we had enough chances to have won two or three games."
