Davis: "Experienced Players Will Be Crucial"

4 August 2016

Boss says group cannot fail to learn from experienced players as we get set for kick-off.

Steve Davis says that his young players cannot fail to learn from Chris Dagnall and Ryan Lowe as we prepare for life in League Two. The Alex boss was determined to bring more experience into the club and he enticed Ryan Lowe from Bury on a permanent basis and then signed free agent Chris Dagnall to partner him up front. The vastly experienced Zoumana Bakayogo also signed a new deal with the club following an impressive second half of the season.

The Alex boss is still chasing two more reinforcements before the transfer deadline at the end of the month, with an experienced midfield player being his top priority.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I would be happy with one or two more and if we can do that then I think the competition to get into the team would help us and improve us.

“I would like an experienced midfield player. Getting one in is imperative because we are short of midfielders. We only have two with Billy Bingham and Jonah but we could move Ollie there if necessary.

“I want the right type in, like we have got with Lowe and Dagnall. They are proven and can influence the others in the squad. They have a good attitude to the training and the young ones look up to them. They cannot fail to learn from them by watching them. They should follow them and see how they live their lives and conduct themselves.

He added: “Their work rate is there for all of them to see and they will be crucial for us this season.”
