Danny Offers A Bit Of Everything

Boss says experienced midfielder will be a great addition to his squad.

espite narrowly going down to Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening, a real positive was the full debut of new signing Danny Hollands. D

Following a substitute appearance at Newport, the midfielder started his first game for the club at Ewood Park, completing 77 minutes before he was replaced by James Jones. The experienced Hollands appeared very composed in possession and his range of passing with his left foot was encouraging in what was a good all-round performance from the Alex.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It has been a real positive to get Danny some minutes under his belt. He hasn’t played any pre-season games and was limited to some behind closed door games at Portsmouth, which is nowhere near the intensity of League football or playing against Championship players.

“It is all about building up his match fitness and sharpness. We will continue to be careful with him and integrate him into the squad and what we need him to do because different teams want different things from their players.

“Danny brings with him a lot of experience and he can do a bit of everything. He is tall and strong and will offer something in both boxes. He can break up attacks and start them because he has great quality with his left foot.

“He can also get in the box and take a goal as well, so once he is fully match fit then he will be a great asset for us.”
