Alex draw Rovers in the EFL Cup

Crewe Alexandra have drawn Blackburn Rovers in the second round of the EFL Cup and the two clubs have previously met in the competition back in October 1998. Blackburn, who had been champions of England just three years previously won 1-0 at Gresty Road with England International Chris Sutton on target in the 47th minute.

 A strong Blackburn Rovers side contained the likes of Tim Flowers, Stephane Henchoz, Tim Sherwood, Damien Duff and Kevin Davies and they progressed to the fourth round.

Dario Gradi’s side were a Championship side at the time and our best chances on the night fell to Rodney Jack and Colin Little.
