Always A Test Against A Gary Johnson Side

26 August 2016

Boss looks forward to locking horns again with Gary Johnson.

Steve Davis is looking forward to locking horns with his old pal Gary Johnson this weekend. The vastly experienced Johnson, who has led the likes of Yeovil Town and Bristol City to promotion to the Championship guided Cheltenham back into the Football League at the first time of asking last season and he will now be looking to set down a marker in League Two.

Davis has great respect for one of the most highly-rated managers outside of the top flight and he knows that he will have to be at his tactical best to steal any advantage.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Gary has vast experience and has managed in the Championship. He has been at big clubs and been in the game for many years.

“He knew what it took to get Cheltenham out of the Conference and that isn’t easy but he managed to do that at the first attempt. He will want to do well in this division.

“Gary’s teams are always really organised and have a tremendous work ethic and they will play to their strengths and we have to play to ours if we are going to get a good result.

He added: “It will be another tough game but it is a fixture we can look forward to. We are in really good form and we are ready for the challenge.”
