Alex Has To Keep Showing That Consistency

25 August 2016

Boss challenges Chelsea star to keep on producing in the final third of the pitch.

Steve Davis has challenged his on-loan winger from Chelsea, Alex Kiwomya to continue to show that the level of consistency he has shown in the first part of the season. The England Youth International has been in electric form of late, having already found the net on three occasions and contributing a number of key assists as well.

Kiwomya, 20, has forced his way into the starting line-up ahead of youngster Charlie Kirk and has become a real potential match winner for us.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I started with Alex as an impact substitute because there is nothing worse than a defender to see someone who is really quick coming off the bench.

“I then wanted to see if he could have the same sort of impact when he started a game and he has shown that he can. Now he has to show that he can do it over a consistent basis over the course of 90 minutes, over a succession of games. That is the challenge for him now.

“Alex has set a high standard of performance and he has to keep producing that on a consistent basis. He has been really effective in what he has done for us in the final third but he knows he also has aspects of his game that he can work on, especially defensively.

The boss added: “He has been terrific for us and he has made a great start to the season. We just have to keep on encouraging him to do the things that he is good at, taking defenders on and combining with the other forwards in the team.”
