Ainley Return A Boost For Pompey Visit

12 August 2016

Callum Ainley shakes off groin problem to declare himself fit for first home game.

Although midfielder Billy Bingham is rated as 50/50 to face title favourites Portsmouth this weekend and the news that Perry Ng is struggling with a hip problem, Crewe have been boosted with the news that youngster Callum Ainley is fit and available for selection.

Ainley missed the mid-week cup win at Sheffield United after picking up a groin strain on the opening day of the season at Stevenage. Ainley has been able to resume training this week and has suffered no reaction to his muscle problem.

Steve Davis told us: “Callum is fine now. He aggravated his groin at Stevenage and we didn’t risk him on Tuesday night.

“He has trained okay and he is back with us, so he gives us another option.”
