U18: Leeds 2-2 Crewe

4 April 2016

Last minute equaliser throws Play-Off push into doubt

Leeds United scored a last gasp leveller to leave Kenny Lunt’s Under 18 side up against it in the race for the final play-off position.

The result, couple with a 3-0 comfortable victory for league rivals Sheffield United, means that the mean must win both of their remaining fixtures and hope The Blades drop points to progress.

It was scoreless at half-time, but Crewe were ahead when Owen Dale received Luke Walley’s clever touch on the edge of the box to fire low past the keeper.

A superbly curled Leeds free-kick had them level, goalkeeper Jake Hilton getting nowhere near the superbly struck effort.

But Crewe rallied and re-took the lead, and what looked like all three points, when Lewis Reilly fed in substitute Joel Lynch to slot in low into the corner.

It looked that way until, deep into added time, Leeds hoisted a lofty cross into the area, Hilton misjudged the flight of the ball & dropped it for the Whites to bundle home & snatch a point.

Crewe: Hilton, Woodcock, Quinn, Wilkinson, Morgan, Lundstram, Lowery, Pickering (Lynch), Dale, Reilly, Walley (Neal)
