Turton In No Mood To Celebrate His Wonder Strike

19 April 2016

Ollie Turton says he is gutted following relegation to League Two.

Ollie Turton struck the goal of his life in the 3-2 defeat by Scunthorpe United on Saturday but the 23-year-old, who has captained the club on occasions this season has told Crewe Alex PlayerHD that he was in ‘no mood’ to celebrate.

Turton gave Crewe the lead with an unstoppable shot past Joe Anyon in the Scunthorpe goal, but the right-back did not celebrate the late goal-of-the-season contender following our relegation to League Two the previous week.

Turton told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “It is always nice to score and it was a good goal to give us the lead in the game but I didn’t feel like celebrating after the season we have all had.

“I was happy it went in but what did I have to celebrate? I’m just gutted we have been relegated and I was in no mood to celebrate it.

“We have all got a point to prove next season. We need to end the season on a high and work hard in pre-season to make sure we come back fighting.

Ollie added: “The group has stuck together through some really tough times and that is what we have to continue to do as a club. Results have gone against us and that means we have to work even harder now to turn things around next season.”
