Crewe Alexandra boss says young group will only improve.
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his young squad is ‘packed with potential’ and with some new recruits arriving in the summer, he wants them up there challenging in League Two next season.
Already relegated Crewe Alexandra still have a major say in who will be joining them in the league below with games against Doncaster and Fleetwood still remaining. Although he has readily admitted that he has ‘one eye on next season’ the Alex boss says he will make sure his players act professionally until the final kick to protect the competition aspect of the relegation scrap.
Steve told crewealex.net: “This team has great potential. They are a young group and with some old heads coming in to help them, I’m sure they can fulfil that potential and be up there challenging next season.
“If we can bring in some more experienced players to help them then that will make a difference to us. The younger ones have to learn how to win and find a way to win in games.
“The more experienced ones would help in certain situations in games and getting some good characters in will help with that.
“It has been hugely disappointing this season but we have got to be optimistic because we have some good players here. Some of the performances have shown that but as the manager, it’s my fault that we haven’t managed to get enough results to stay up.”
