Lowery Offered First Professional Contract

19 April 2016

Promising midfield youngster Tom Lowery offered professional terms by club.

Crewe Alexandra is pleased to announce that the club have offered a professional contract to young midfielder Tom Lowery.

Lowery, 18, is based in neighbouring Holmes Chapel and he can play in various roles in midfield or off the front. His competitive edge and eye for goal has made him a stand-out performer for the club’s U-18 Youth Team under Kenny Lunt and when he has been promoted into Alex Morris’ Under-21 side.

The midfielder scored his first goal for the Under-21s in a 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers back in February and he followed that up with a goal in a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday and a match winning brace in a 3-1 win over Hull City.

Lowery has also notched seven goals for the club’s Under-18s this season as they tried to secure a play-off place.

Lowery follows his team-mates, Callum Ainley, Ollie Finney and Charlie Kirk in being offered professional terms after impressing throughout the Academy. From the year below, defender Harry Pickering and forward Owen Dale also recently signed their first professional contracts.

With decisions to be made there are going to be boys left disappointed at the end of their scholarship. Sadly, Kieran Harrison, Jamie Morgan, Tom Quinn, Johnny Higham, Aaron Dowsett, Matty Neal have all been released. We wish those boys every success with their futures.
