Guthrie: "Promotion Will Be Priority"

26 April 2016

Defender Jon Guthrie says we have to hit the ground running to compete at the top end next season.

Defender Jon Guthrie agrees with the club’s management staff that our mind-set has to change ahead of next season. Guthrie wants to get back to winning ways as soon as possible and then mount a promotion push next season from League Two. One of the club’s most consistent performers this season told Crewe Alex PlayerHD that he doesn’t want to be ‘hanging around in the league below for too long’.

Ahead of this weekend’s home game against Doncaster Rovers, Jon told the club’s official web-site: “Performances have not been good enough and it has not been easy this season. We have played well in games and not got results and that was the case against Oldham last weekend.

“We need a win. It has been too long and we are working hard to get it before the end of the season. We have two games left and we want to end positively.

“We have to change our mentality and the summer is going to be massive for us. We will work hard to make sure we are ready for next season. When this season ends, we have to forget about it and move on. We have to a positive attitude and we want to get straight back up.

“We don’t want to be staying in the league below for more than a year so we have to start well and build some momentum.”
